How I Teach Maths

The same core methods reappear every year. We teach them until they're automatic.

Exam Strategy

  • Section A vs Section B time allocation, mapped to real marking-scheme weightings
  • How to pick up partial marks even when the final answer is wrong
  • Command word recognition: 'show that', 'hence', 'prove', and what each actually requires
  • A repeatable checklist for setting out full workings so nothing gets lost to a slip

Past Paper Practice

  • Weekly past-paper questions targeted at each student's weakest topics
  • Every submission corrected against the official State Examinations marking scheme
  • Full timed mock papers before the Christmas and pre-exams
  • A running topic-frequency tracker showing which areas appear most often on the paper

Maths Grinds: Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, we teach both levels, and can help a student decide which level is realistic based on a short diagnostic in the first lesson.
